Botulinum Toxin (Botox)
What Is Botulinum Toxin (Botox)?
Ageing is a process that affects all of us. The appearance of our face typically changes with age. Loss of muscle tone and thinning skin can give the face a wrinkled, flabby or drooping appearance.
Botox is a highly purified toxin that can temporarily erase or reduce these wrinkles. Botox is used to relax your facial muscles temporarily. The ideal areas for treatment are the deep creases between the eyebrows, ‘crows’ feet’, ‘bunny lines’ on the nose and forehead frown lines.
As a recognised clinic, A New You can administer Neurobloc® Botox (Type B) for clients that are resistant to Botulinum Toxin (Type A). Other brands certified in the medical and cosmetic field include Azzulure®, Bocouture®, Dysport®, Vistabel® and Xeomin®.* During your consultation our experts will discuss the best option for you.
What Can I Expect?
The process itself is quite simple, with the affected area with lines and wrinkles receiving a small Botox injection. The feeling is not painful, however some patients do feel a ‘mild uncomfort’ as the needle works it’s way through the skin. In some instances the injection can cause a slight mark on the face, this will disappear within a few hours of the treatment.
You can expect good results after a single Botox session. It usually takes about five days for the results to start to show and two weeks to reach maximum effect. The results may last from three to six months, depending on the individual.
Advanced Botox techniques on lower areas of the face and neck can soften necklines and produce a lifting effect.
Advanced Botox techniques can be used to treat migraine and also excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis) on the face and parts of the body such as underarms, hands and feet.*. Please note we cannot treat pregnant ladies or nursing mothers.
