Breast Surgery

What Is Breast Enlargement?

Breast enlargement/augmentation is the most popular cosmetic breast surgery procedure for women. The surgery itself involves inserting breast implants to increase the size of the breasts, change their shape, or make them more even.

There are many different shapes and types of breast implant – your surgeon and practitioner will discuss options with you. A round silicone implant is the most common, but also available is a tear-drop shaped implant for a more natural look.

The procedure is suitable for women with:*

  • Very small breasts which are out of proportion to the rest of their body
  • Asymmetrical, deformed or different sized breasts
  • Sagging breasts following excessive weight loss who opt for breast enhancement instead of or as well as a breast uplift (mastopexy)
  • Existing implants who would like a larger size, or who have experienced hardening or distortion.

What Can I Expect?

The operation, usually performed under a general anaesthetic, involves making a small cut in the skin next to or below the breast to allow the implant to be positioned either between your breast tissue and chest muscle, or behind your chest muscle. The incision is then stitched together, and covered it with a dressing.

The procedure usually takes 60 – 90 minutes, usually under a general anaesthetic with an overnight stay in hospital. However in some circumstances it can be performed as a day case.*

At A New You we use Nagor implants, which have a lifetime guarantee against hardening.

What Is Breast Reduction?

Breast reduction is a procedure whereby excess tissue and skin are removed and the breasts reshaped to a more modest size. The procedure can help women who are unhappy with the shape, weight or droop of their breasts by making them smaller and more lifted.

Breast reduction is suitable for women with larger breasts who:

  • Are suffering neck, back or shoulder discomfort or grooves in the shoulders from bra straps
  • Feel self-conscious about the size of their breasts
  • Have one breast which is noticeably larger than the other
  • Suffer from excessive sweating
  • Rashes and skin infections under the breasts
  • Play sports but are hindered by their breasts getting in the way

What Can I Expect?

The operation takes around three hours and is performed under a general anaesthetic and involves an overnight stay in hospital.

The procedure involves repositioning the nipple and areola to create a natural result. The main scar is a ‘T’ shape, with a circular scar around the areola and a vertical scar from the nipple to underneath the breast. Sometimes a curved scar remains in the fold under the breast.*

What Is A Mastopexy? (Breast Uplift)

Mastopexy is a procedure whereby excessive or stretched skin can be removed to modify the size, elevation and contour of the breast.

This procedure is suitable for women who are unhappy with the shape or droop of their breasts, but do not wish to have an implant. However as well as removing the excess skin, it is possible to also include an implant for those who wish to have more rounded and larger shaped breast.

What Can I Expect?

The operation takes up to two hours and is performed under a general anaesthetic, the procedure will often involve an overnight stay in hospital depending on the extent of the surgery.

The procedure is similar to that of a breast reduction but without removing breast tissue. Excess skin is excised and it may also be necessary to correct the position of the nipple.*

Treatment Of An Inverted Nipple

A non-surgical option for correcting an inverted nipple is to wear a nipplette. Once places on the nipple, the niplette then applies gentle suction to reverse the inversion. This niplette would be worn at night for an approximate period of three months.*

However if the nipplette does not work, the nipple can be surgically corrected under local anaesthetic. There are a number of methods for correction depending on the cause. A common procedure is to make a small incision around the areola to access and release the connective tissues that cause the retraction.*

This procedure can be performed with other breast procedures.

From start to finish my experience with A New You was my best choice ever made, I wish I had done it years ago. The treatment I received was the very best and everyone was so helpful, supportive and very caring. The surgeon that performed the operation was the nicest man ever, he made me feel relaxed and not self conscious. He explained everything to me clearly and talked me through the procedure. The kindest caring surgeon in the world! My consultant specialist nurse Jackie was also amazing and she along with Kerry made everything so simple. Fantastic team.*
A very high standard of pre and post care. The treatment has improved my confidence and self esteem.*
I really hated my open pores and blackheads and this treatment sucks them all away in the first part. My oily skin has not felt or looked this good since before I hit puberty. This really isn’t just a treat for girls its a real solution to troubled skin for everyone. I need another one soon.*
From my very first visit to A New You Jackie and the girls were welcoming, informative and reassuring. I felt confident that my surgeon, Mr Joffily, understood exactly the look I wanted and took the time to listen to me and advise me on what would work best for my body.
I’m so pleased with the final result and fully recommend A New You to anyone interested in a Breast Enlargement.*

Firstly I would like to say staff are very welcoming and friendly. Offering tea or coffee and generally trying to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Secondly the procedure went extremely well.*
Jason W
It has made me feel more confident. Jackie kept on trying until she got me the treatment, instead of just saying ‘sorry we can’t help you’.*
