Face Facts

Contemporary daily life can really take its toll on our skin, particularly for those of us living by the sea and taking full advantage of the sun, sand and possibly the odd glass of prosecco or two!

Dryness, lines and loose skin can get even the most confident of us pulling up our cheeks with our hands, wishing for some kind of instant facelift.

Until recently, going under the knife was the only real way of making a significant difference to skin laxity and sagging jowls.

But more recent technological innovations include the celebrity-endorsed HIFU machines which are making their mark the world over.

Standing for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, the treatment is a revolution in advanced cosmetic technology.  Just one session can significantly tighten and lift several areas of the face, reduce the signs of ageing and improve the tone of the skin – with potentially long-lasting effects.

Although some clients find HIFU slightly uncomfortable – mainly because of the depth of the ultrasound – the results are worth it.  There are immediate effects but the skin will continue to react to the treatment, continuing the visual improvements for three to six months.

ZAP THE FAT

And it isn’t just suitable for the face. It can help anyone hoping to shed some pounds, as it helps to break up and reduce the number of fat cells within the areas of treatment.

‘HIFU destroys fat cells when targeted,’ explains A New You Clinic’s principal practitioner, Jackie Knight. ‘This is great for many areas of the body, not just the face.  Our customers are now seeing the benefits of treating the abdomen, inner and outer thighs, hopes, waist, flanks, buttocks, inner arms and even knees!’

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

During a HIFU facelift treatment, the practitioner delivers ultrasound energy with precision, deep into the structural layers of the skin. The heat energy is delivered at temperatures between 65c and 70c, targeting the different layers of the skin to achieve the best effect.

A New You’s HIFU non-surgical facelift treatment is an advanced cosmetic procedure and offers many benefits.  Only one or two treatments are needed to achieve desired results, which can last for up to two years yet only take between 30 and 120 minutes to perform.

HIFU requires no needles or incisions, so no recovery time and clients can return to work immediately.

‘Some people do like to combine HIFU with other treatments such as micro-needling and fillers although the results on its own are often all our clients require for a fresh and rejuvenated look,’ said Jackie.

HOW DOES IT WORK WITHOUT SURGERY?

As the sound waves bypass the surface of the skin, they rapidly heat the dermal and sub-dermal tissue, causing a low-level injury to the tissue.

In the process of ‘healing’ itself, the tissue stimulates the production and organisation of collagen fibres, which in turn leads to the long-term tightening and lifting of the skin in the treated area.

The creation of new collagen is a key part of helping the skin to maintain its youthful appearance.

A PRIVATE MATTER

It isn’t just the face and body that can weaken – whether from age, childbirth or hormonal changes.

For some women, stress incontinence can be a real issue and one that is rarely talked about.

A New You clinic can offer a solution thanks to another innovation called Votiva by Inmode,  which is a gentle and non-invasive solution involved no pain and with immediate results.

‘We recognise people don’t like to discuss the fact their pelvic floor may be weak as they get older, or after childbirth.  We offer private consultations and have a fabulous treatment which generally works quickly.  The outcomes can dramatically transform people’s lives,’ Jackie said.

The recommended number of treatments is three, although many people notice great results from the first session.

Anyone who would like to discuss this in more detail is invited to ask for a private consultation to look at the options and what conditions the treatment can help.

‘This can be a daunting and embarrassing prospect but we aim to make the process of dealing with the issues as simple, effective and pleasant as possible.’
