Your most common questions about cosmetic surgery answered!
Ageing, body insecurities and cosmetic surgery are common conversations amongst many friendship groups, but there’s usually a lot of scepticism and concerns around having procedures done. As something that may drastically improve your self-confidence and mental wellbeing, wouldn’t it be worth finding out a little more information about the process?
We sat down and had a chat with our Principal Practitioner, Jackie Knight, to answer some of the most common questions we get asked.
What are your top 5 most popular surgical cosmetic treatments?
We do such a wide variety of surgical procedures that it's hard to pick just 5, but I would say:
1. Hooded eyes
2. Breast augmentation
3. Liposuction
4. Hair transplant
5. Tummy tucks
What is the waiting time like to have a procedure done?
Waiting times will depend on the time of the year and what type of surgery you are looking to have, but on average, around 6-8 weeks from an initial consultation with me.
What’s the consultation process like?
We know that the prospect can be nerve-wracking for most people, and rightly so, you have a lot of questions, so we take our time to make sure you fully understand all the facts, and we will never pressure you to decide if you aren’t 100% sure.
The first step is an initial consultation with myself, where I will spend time getting to know you, listen to and answer any of your concerns, and discuss the best ways in which we can help you.
We also take a full medical history and pictures of the desired surgical area, to make an informed recommendation about whether this is the way forward for you. If we feel you are well suited for the procedure we will then recommend the next steps in the surgical procedure process.
If you are comfortable with everything discussed and wish to proceed, then we will arrange a consultation with the relevant Consultant Surgeon who would be doing the surgery at the hospital, so that you can get to know them and run through the more logistical aspects of the procedure.
Do you offer any aftercare?
We take the aftercare that we offer extremely seriously, as it is of paramount importance for you to have the correct aftercare and support following your procedure.
We provide a driver to escort you home from the hospital after your surgery, and you will be given all the relevant literature for your aftercare, as well as a 24-hour telephone number for any reassurance, queries, or concerns you may have.
Depending on the procedure, you will be required to visit the clinic for a post-operative appointment at least twice in the first month following your surgery, as well as a further follow up appointment with your Consultant Surgeon up to 6 weeks after surgery.
What would you say to someone who is considering having plastic surgery but is scared?
It is quite normal for our clients to feel nervous about the possibility of having a procedure as it’s a big decision to make. This is why we place so much importance on your consultation; discussing all the side effects, risks, and benefits of the procedure you are considering, so that you can make an informed decision about whether it is right for you.
We also offer the opportunity for you to be put in contact with a past client for you to speak to about the procedure first-hand and discuss anything you may still feel on edge about.
We have an immense amount of experience in helping you be fully prepared if you decide to proceed, and we place a great deal of importance on the aftercare to assist you to make a full, speedy recovery, with results you are very happy with!
