Man boobs or moobs are fairly common. They tend to be either hereditary, down to being overweight, or caused by steroid misuse. Gynaecomastia involves removing the male breast gland and often also removing breast fat at the same time, under a local or general anaesthetic.
Your surgeon makes a small incision near the areola to gain access to the gland, which they remove. We can use liposuction at the same time to remove stubborn areas of surrounding fat.
You will need to wear a special compression garment for a period of time afterwards, but you can usually return to work within a week. We will need you to visit the clinic to have your stitches removed after 7-10 days.
Breast gland removal is permanent. The same goes for any fat we remove from the area – those local fat deposits can’t return to the same area.
